Here are answers to Frequently Asked Questions about the Drive-in Mass.
Q: Can I listen to the Mass at home?
A: We use a low power FM transmitter in compliance with FCC regulations to operate without a license on an unused frequency. The range is limited. If you live near the church, you could, but you would miss the point of the drive-in Mass, which is to receive the Holy Eucharist.
Q: Why do I have to park in a specific place, I can receive the broadcast anywhere in the parking lot?
A: This is to ensure that social distancing is achieved and to expedite the distribution of Holy Communion.
Still not comfortable attending Mass in the church building? We understand. While it is true that Cardinal Cupich has extended dispensation from attending Mass, and you can watch it on TV. But isn't quite the same. There is something missing, right? When was the last time that you were able to receive Holy Communion? What if there was a way that you could attend Mass without going in the church building and still receive the Eucharist? Well now there is.
We're Revivin' the Drive-In
That's right, now you can attend Mass at Christ Our Savior, in the parking lot, in your vehicle, and receive Holy Communion too!
We use a low power FM transmitter to broadcast live, the Sunday 10:30am Mass to the parking lot.
We ask that you pre-register by calling the Rectory Office at (708) 333-3550. Since the Office Hours are still limited, you can leave a message. You can also sign up right here on the website. Just click on the Sign Up Genius logo on the home page. All participants must be registered. Registering at the time of the Mass will slow entry.
We ask that you drive slowly and carefully in the parking lot as there will be pedestrians present. Those attending Mass in the Church as they enter and exit and the Attendants, Ushers, Deacons and Ministers.
After Mass, please exit using the north exit to Cottage Grove.
At communion time, Deacons and/or Ministers of Communion wearing face shields and masks will come to the parking lot to distribute the Eucharist.
While there is dispensation from attending Mass, there is no dispensation from supporting your parish. Our revenue is down substantially. If you have not been contributing, please consider making up those contributions since March either in a lump sum, or by increasing your weekly offering going forward. Attendants will collect your offering.
Please make checks payable to St. Jude Church until all of our accounts are converted.

Our intent is to hold the drive-in Mass every Sunday. However, there may be times when it is not safe to do so due to extreme weather conditions. In that case, the transmiiter will be on and you can listen to the Mass, but there would be no collection and Holy Communion would not be distributed.. A decision will be made and announced prior to the start of Mass. Thank you for your understanding.
We have not missed a Sunday yet, even with the heavy snowfall on January 31st and the bitter cold on February 7th and February 14th.
